Dfi # 9 - this is it!
Today I had a go at the Google 1 exam. It was okay but I didn't keep my eye on the time and so I ran out of time and couldn't go back to check any of my answers, and I also did not complete all of the questions. Consequently, I need to re-sit the test in a couple of weeks time. I was close but not close enough.

Anyway if you are about to sit the exam, then you might like some tips:

  • Preparation: go through all of the lessons in the fundamental training section in the teacher google centre - this is very helpful. As I was working through the lessons I had a second screen open so that I could put into to practice what I was reading about, - as the saying goes 'practice makes perfect' (well it tries to!)
  • IN THE TEST:
  • time yourself - this is very important. It was recommended to spend no more than 3 minutes per multiple choice question
  • trust yourself on the multiple choice questions as you are probably not going to have time to go back and review
  • Part B the scenarios - again the recommendation is about 10 minutes per scenario and there were 11 of these today
  • Some suggest a second screen to check on anything you are unsure about - I definitely didn't have time to go searching
  • Stay calm and have faith in your ability to complete the tasks as required to pass
  • And if you do not pass they will give you feedback on your weaknesses
  • And when you start the scenarios do not click on the NEXT button until you have completed the activity - because I ran out of time I do not know if I could have gone back and completed the activity I skipped - but it certainly didn't assist my score for that scenario.

This illustration (below) was on one of the slides for our Dfi presentation today and again I am putting it my blog because it has to be one of my current favourties!

  1. Good on you Adrienne for giving the exam a go. Your tips are invaluable to others who choose to sit it and I feel confident that (like me) you will get better results second time round. Good luck on your digital learning journey Adrienne and thank you so much for sharing over the nine weeks because you have been an inspiration to us all.
